1911 Henry Wigfull Sterling Silver Toast Racks

A Pair of English Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Table Toast Racks by Henry Wigfull of Sheffield dated 1911.
'Each Toast Rack measures approximately 3 1/2 inches or 89 mm in length by 2 1/2 inches or 64 mm across the width of the feet and it stands 3 5/8 inches or 92 mm tall to the top of its handle. The toast racks are both made from solid sterling silver with a shaped handle on the top and they have a combined silver weight of 4.04 Troy ounces or 125.7 grams, each one has five shaped toast separators resulting in four sections of which the central one has a circular handle on the top and each rack stands on four bun feet. The toast racks have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and each one has been impressed with a full set of matching English solid sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows,
H.W - Crown - Lion Passant - stylized t
H.W is the Sheffield silversmith or makers mark of Henry Wigfull, the Crown is the mark of the Sheffield assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English solid sterling silver and the stylized letter t is the date letter for 1911.
The condition is used and Excellent for their age.
The Toast Racks have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs, the racks stands straight, the definition is crisp, the silver hallmarks are still legible although as the toast racks are used antiques they are ever so slightly out of shape but this is very easily rectified and they have some minor surface wear from use, they have the patina of age that is to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this pair of antique toast racks can still be used today not only as toast racks but also as letter racks and that they would make a superb addition to any collection, I also think that they look fantastic considering that they are 100 years old.
